Personas del camino

People of the Road

This open series gathers portraits — of people I know, imagine, or remember. They often appear between other works, unplanned yet insistent, as if they must be painted.

These faces connect me to my own story, recalling the portraits I drew of my family as a child. They carry the satisfaction of recognition, the act of holding someone in paint.

The figures come from varied moments and moods, but many share a common ground — people from the backgrounds I grew up in, from lower social classes, or those living at the edges. They are neighbours, strangers, and outcasts, each holding their own history.

Through these pieces, portraiture becomes both a personal archive and a way of seeing those whose stories often go unrecorded.
